Meetings have been taking place between a UK based company and representatives from MaltaShipyards, MaltaToday can reveal.
The meetings have been exploratory but ‘very positive’ but have been kept under wraps and government spokesmen have been tight-lipped about the talks.
When contacted, Investments Minister Austin Gatt who was abroad insisted that he would only answer questions if the questions were sent through the proper channels. The Office of the Prime Minister also directed all questions back to Dr Gatt.
Shipyard chairman John Cassar White asked MaltaToday to direct questions to the shareholder (the government). When contacted, Sammy Meilaq, GWU workers’ representative, said the revelation was news to him. Attempts to contact GWU secretary general Tony Zarb for his comments late last night proved futile. |
