The Honourable Transport Minister

Peter Murray
Mosta

Regarding the ongoing saga and the alleged (!) involvement of Transport Minister Jesmond Mugliett into a decision to suspend the sacking of the two ADT officers convicted of bribery, it is manifestly apparent that this whole sorry episode is marred by obvious economies with the truth and totally lacks frankness.
The Transport Minister has seemingly had his offer to resign rejected by the Prime Minsiter. However, if he was truly determined to demonstrate culpability and accountability he would refuse to accept the Prime Minister’s rejection of this noble, honest and honourable course of action.
However, I am firm believer that the trouble with this country (and many others) is that there are far too many politicians who believe, with a conviction based on experience, that you can fool all of the people all of the time and whoever has an ear close to the ground cannot hear the words of an upright man.
It would appear that the Prime Minister is insisting that Mr Mugliett’s involvement in this case was limited to a “debatable decision”. However, what is not debatable is the incontrovertible fact that someone is telling “porkies” with principles and codes of ethics.
Therefore, I am at a loss for an explanation as to why the Prime Minister would wish to intervene to prevent an honourable act by the Transport Minister in tendering his resignation – which is merely a get-out-of-jail clause to throw a veil over a perfidious and unwarranted attempt to inveigle himself in a perverted course of action by rescinding these two ADT transgressions’ sacking for obscure reasons.
