Gavin Gulia to contest deputy leadership for party affairs

Labour MP and shadow minister for home affairs Gavin Gulia yesterday launched his bid for the deputy leadership for party affairs with the slogan “vision, experience and cooperation”.
In a statement yesterday, Gulia, 45, expressed his belief in the potential of the Labour Party to win over the majority of the people with policies and structures that “are reformed to appeal and reach out to a wider segment of society”.
Gulia said he hoped to dedicate his 12-year experience in parliament and his work as minister to give a “new and more open dimension” to the role of deputy leader for party affairs, and give a new vision and role to the operations of the party branches and organs.
“I want to extend the hand of cooperation to everyone, in particular to whoever has a genuine interest in the development and continual progress of our country and every sector of society, be it political, economic, educational, environmental or that of national security.”
