National Orchestra concert

Art From Within
Travelling collective exhibition of Art Brut paintings at the St James Cavalier Upper Galleries. The project originated at the Haus der Kunstler in Gugging, Austria, as part of the ‘Kunst Von Innen’ (Art from within) project. The exhibition is commissioned by the Ministry of European and International Affairs.

Ivan Saliba at 2_22
An exhibition of digital artwork by Ivan Saliba at 2_22, Valletta, entitled +=-. Saliba showcases seven detailed illustrations portraying momentary snapshots of magical actions. Glowing stardust, simulated texture and the power of light all form part of this abstract interaction.

The Human Figure
Exhibition of paintings and drawings by Patrick Dalli at the Main Hall, St James Cavalier. The exhibition showcases work executed over the past 16 months and centers on the artistís concern with the human figure as a subject.

ArtLinks 2008
Exhibition by students from 11 participating secondary schools, held at Lorenzo Gafaí Secondary School, Vittoriosa. Open from 08:30 to 14:00 between May 12 -29; open all day on May 30, 31 and until noon on June 1.

May 16 - June 22
Sea Dreaming
Derek Nice returns to St James Cavalier with new works, often made from recycled, regenerated found objects and materials. In collaboration with Vince Briffa (installation artist) Renzo Spiteri (percussionist) and Digby Atkinson (painter and printmaker).

SHAOLIN MONKS
May 16 - 18
Shaolin Kung Fu
The masters from the Shaolin Monastery at the Province Henan, China will be showcasing their skills at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. The show presents the best masters in the different disciplines coming from different monasteries in China where the history of the Shaolin temple and the life of the Shaolin monks is impressively represented. The shows include all the fascinating and historical Qi Gong exercises and demonstrate the principle that ‘the spirit can dominate the body’. They will be performing on May 16 at 20:30, May 17 at 20:00 and May 18 at 18:30. Ticket prices are at Stalls/Boxes €39.00 for stalls/boxes, €29.00 for balcony, and €49.00 for dress circle. Special reductions for senior citizens and students. Reservations accepted until May 15.

Earth Garden Festival
A festival of music and art at the National Park, Ta Qali from 14:00 onwards. Featuring reggae, tribal music and more. Entrance to the ‘Open Village’ is free.
