Allegations made against vet

I act for Dr Charmaine Xuereb, the operator of Best Friends veterinary clinic in Tarxien.
You have published a letter by a certain J Pullicino from Siggiewi in the 23 August 2009 issue of your paper under the heading ‘Veterinary Abuse’ alleging that a cat Ms Pullicino brought in to the clinic was treated with “little or no urgency” also implying that Dr Xuereb “abused of the system heartlessly” by apparently letting Ms Pullicino and her cat wait for one hour.
The allegations are completely unfounded and show a selfish disregard for other cases.
Ms Pullicino and her cat came to the clinic on Sunday 7 June 2009 in the morning, obviously not a regular clinic day. Dr Xuereb was the only emergency vet on duty that morning and had to deal with around seven other cases. Ms Pullicino’s cat was not in critical condition and consequently could not be given priority over other cases. All cases were therefore treated on a first-come, first-served basis, a one-hour wait being surely very reasonable given the circumstances.
