Not the pizza I’d like served

I make reference to the article ‘Reinventing the pizza wheel’ of 16 August, 2009 (Mona’s Meals). Since I am not interested in promoting or degrading any particular restaurant, I am omitting the name of the restaurant concerned. In my opinion, the writer appears to be biased. She sees the glass half-full and sometimes she sees it half-empty. For example: she waited 45 minutes for the pizza to be served. We were luckier: it took us 42 minutes for the first two pizzas to arrive. The other two were served later. In previous articles, this service is described as inefficient, lacking, haywire. During waiting time, the author failed to notice that only a few tables had tablecloths; or by whom the exhibits on the wall were signed.
It was important to point out that tomatoes and mozzarella were imported: what is wrong with the sun, fields and happiness of Maltese tomatoes? How many Maltese wines feature on the wine list?
In previous articles, she counted the number of prawns served. In this case, nothing is mentioned to describe a pizza base of 40cm diameter and topping of 12cm radius. Is this the reinvention of the double wheel? According to the menu, fishermen had to remain hungry after eating their marinara.
Is €12 for one pizza and water (excluding the bread basket which is not complimentary) good value for money?
A surcharge of 5% has to be added if one pays with a credit card. Even though the writer may not have used her credit card, it is written on the menu. Someone else might come up with the idea to charge 20% VAT because the owner has to file the returns.
The food was fabulous. The report was fabricated. The author should deal with other culinary punctures, with the same set of gloves. She should not use the medium to declassify other outlets. Let us reserve five stars for good restaurants and not for advertising.
