Are PM’s hands safe or hands of straw?

Our Prime Minister often boasts of having “a strong pair of hands”. Why then did he lack the guts and decency to face the present European Commissioner Dr Joe Borg and tell him that for some reason or other he was not going to be reconfirmed as Malta’s Commissioner? Why did Dr Joe Borg have to hear the news from his wife who happened to be the following the local news on TV during which Dr Gonzi’s decision to nominate Minister John Dalli was announced? The same weakness of Dr Gonzi was shown when PN ex-ministers got to know that they were not being reappointed to the Cabinet just by receiving an SMS from the prime minister! ‘A strong pair of hands’ or, as someone suggested, ‘hands of straw’?
