5,333 parrots enter Malta

In 2009 5,333 parrots were imported as pets alongside 2237 other birds, 103 mammals and 164 reptiles.
In the same year 482 cats and dogs with a valid passport entered Malta while another 148 had to be quarantined.
These cats and dogs arrived either from EU countries are from other states which issue passports for these animals.
