Rumble, Malta's first American Bully dog, passes away

‘Rumble’ the American Bully Dog, known to many for his stocky build and gentle character, died on 22 June 2017 after a battle with cancer.

He was the first of his breed to be imported from the United States of America to Europe. For many years, Rumble, who lived in Malta with his owners, was the poster child of the American Bully Breed as it grew in popularity in Europe and inspired an international movement with thousands of followers all over the World.

Rumble was born on 10 February 2005 in Long Island, New York, and was bred by Michael Gallo and Chris Sellare from Devil’s Den Kennels.

Rumble, who  will always be remembered by many European dog breeders and fanciers for being the dog from ‘Where it all began’, was loved and cared for by his owners, Andrea, Luca & Gianni Selvaggi.

About American Bully breed

The establishment of today’s American Bully and the breed’s early fundamental development began in the mid 1990s in the United States of America via the efforts of several dedicated breeders and their vision and goals of creating the ultimate family companion. The breed was introduced in Europe in the early 2000’s by Andrea Selvaggi from Malta. In 2004 the American Bully Kennel Club was founded and in 2008 the European Bully Kennel Club was established. Today the breed has become very popular all over the World.

The American Bully breed evolved only through careful and selective breeding of various bull breeds in a programme designed to place an emphasis on maintaining a loyal, devoted and steadfast temperament while enhancing desired physical characteristics. As a breed, the American Bully is celebrated for its exceptional loyalty and devotion to its family members. The ideal temperament of an American Bully is very stable, dedicated, confident and is that of an exceptional family companion. The ideal American Bully thrives on pleasing its owners, is highly intelligent, very trainable and capable of performing many tasks and possess diverse abilities. The modern American Bully can be seen today excelling in many areas in society, such as therapy dogs and working dogs. Physically, the perfect American Bully is athletic, yet powerfully built. The American Bully has a solid, well defined muscular frame that gives the impression of massive strength as well as athletic ability. Males are characteristically stockier and heavier boned than females. Their lifespan is between 10 and 14 years.
