Espresso Italiano Champion 2016 and Caffé Mauro top barista, Andrea Faggiana, was invited to Malta to deliver a wide-ranging presentation on coffee origins and preparation, as part of a Caffé Mauro seminar organised by GSD Marketing Ltd for establishment owners and operators.

Over 35 establishment owners and operators attended the event, held at the newly-refurbished hall at San Anton’s Palace, with the purpose of providing local baristas with a comprehensive and foundational understanding of coffee, starting from the coffee bean in the plantations until it reaches the espresso cup.

Faggiana shared his extensive knowledge on espresso preparation and enabled participants to have hands-on training to refine their skills. By the end of the seminar, the participants could prepare the perfect cup of Italian coffee and understand the body, acidity, bitterness and astringency.

“Caffé Mauro has become a firm favourite among coffee connoisseurs as coffee shops have become part of our lifestyle and ingrained in our daily routine,” Martin Agius, sales and marketing manager at GSD Marketing Ltd said.

“Our aim was to assist barmen in enhancing their skills to produce and serve the best espresso coffee to the satisfaction of customers. To achieve our aim, the 2016 Italian Espresso Champion, Andrea Faggiana, was invited to Malta through the Caffé Mauro coffee academy to deliver an intensive training course on how to produce the perfect espresso,” he said.
