Modern Maltese art celebrated in new publication

Art critic Joseph Paul Cassar will be launching his latest publication on Maltese modern art on August 19.

Following Heritage Malta’s latest publication on Vincent Apap, and two international shows (I fought the X and the X Won and Riccardo Licata’s Mediterranean Soul), Heritage Malta’s National Museum of Fine will be hosting a book launch of Joseph Paul Cassar’s Pioneers of Modern Art in Malta. An exhibition of modern works of art from the National Collection, curated by Prof. Cassar, will also be inaugurated on the same evening.

Cassar is a practising artist, art historian, art critic, curator and educator.

He is also engaged in designing dynamic online art courses for the New York Times Knowledge Network.

Cassar is also one of the museum’s internationally acclaimed consultants and advisors.

The book launch will take place on August 19 in the evening. The inauguration of an exhibition of modern and contemporary art works also curated by Cassar will be held in conjunction with this book launch.

The exhibition, hosted by the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, will run till the September 4. Opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00. Admission to the exhibition for free.
