[WATCH] Gearing up for 2018

Culture is more than just theatre and classical music, but bocci and band clubs too – a new video promoting Valletta’s bid as European Capital for Culture suggests.

Serving as an introduction to the Imagine 18 conference which took place last week, the Valletta 2018 Foundation, in collaboration with Shadeena, has put together a short video celebrating the capital city's bid of European Capital for Culture in 2018.

Directed by Rebecca Cremona and Martin Bonnici and presented by Roderick Vassallo, the video takes a 'tour' around some key locations in Valletta - showing off the city's - and by extension Malta's - cultural diversity.

Actors, ballerinas, classical musicians and crafters jostle for space with footballers, bocci players and even black metal band Martyrium.

This diverse mix augurs well, and it'll be interesting to observe how the projects gearing up for 2018 begin to shape up.
