Mums, giant-lovers, and ever hopeful for local smut: how Pornhub’s searches paint the Maltese

Data released by PornHub shows Malta as having a higher than average proportion of female porn viewers

The Maltese love dirty mums. They hope to get their hands on precious Malta-based pornography. And they also dig giantess porn. Weird? But also true, if Pornhub.com’s recently issued statistics are anything to go by.

According to the latest data issued by Pornhub – the world’s largest porn website –“Malta” was the most searched for term in 2016, followed by “milf”, “giantess” and “vore”, short for vorarephilia – a fetish that is characterised by an erotic desire to be consumed by, or to consume another person or creature.

At the end of every year, Pornhub.com releases extensive data on the trends observed in porn traffic during the preceding year.

Malta ranked 96th in the website’s worldwide ranking of users.

The average time spent per visit in 2016 was 8 minutes and 38 seconds, almost a minute less than the global average of 9 minutes and 36 seconds.

The population of the Philippines spent the longest amount of time watching porn, with each visit lasting 12 minutes 45 seconds.

The proportion of female visitors to the website was 33% for Malta, 7% higher than the global average and 13% lower than the Jamaica which at 46%, has the highest rate of female porn viewership.

Other global trends for 2016 include the fact that 61% of all traffic on pornhub takes place by means of a mobile device, up 9% from 2015. Desktop computers amounted to 28% of all views. Moroever, users aged between 18 and 34 accounted for 60% of all views.

The website also monitors large drops or increases in traffic on days where events of global interest are taking place. In 2016, Malta was the country with the third largest drop in traffic during the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid with traffic dropping by 15% on the day. The largest drop was recorded in Spain - the country of origin of both finalists - while the second largest drop was obsered in the Icelandic population.
