The series will tell the story of a group of strangers whose lives collide as an eight-mile wide asteroid plummets to Earth. The characters then try to survive in an underground bunker in the English town of Slough.

Lowe will play a Vatican priest, Mullaly will portray a white supremacist, and Fischer will play a ‘mild-mannered librarian’.

The film will also be shot in other location in the UK and South Africa.

“The local film industry keeps showing considerable growth and is becoming a major contributor to the country's economy,” Zammit Lewis said.
