The Swedish singer of Moroccan-Berber origin won the Eurovision song contest with the electro-anthem Euphoria.

The 28-year-old Swedish singer, who won this year's edition of the Eurovision song contest held in Baku, Azerbaijian, will be performing in Malta accompanied by a variety of local acts, including: Tenishia, DJ Ruby, Brooke, the up-and-coming group MsLeads and even her Eurovision competitor - Malta's representative Kurt Calleja.

The concert, organised by Stand Out Events, will come in the wake of her Eurovision-winning track, Euphoria, being released as a single, and ahead of the release of her debut album - scheduled to hit the online and offline shops in September.

Loreen's triumph at the Eurovision was hardly a surprise - with bookmakers predicting that that Swedish songstress of Moroccan-Berber origin will seize the number one spot early on.

At the night of the contest, they must have rested easy from the word go, as the continent piled the electro-anthem with generous votes.

Doubtlessly paving the path for a financially successful album release, the song has achieved Platinum status in Sweden.

Neighbouring Norway and Finland were quick to seize on its appeal, and are currently also reporting number one positions.

Though her grandiose and slightly eccentric stage presence on Eurovision night may have betrayed who her musical heroes are, Loreen clarified to the press that she does not like to be compared to R'n'B performers, because she is chiefly influenced by quirkier, more atmospheric performers.

"It's almost bizarre. I never listen to R&B or soul music! The music I get inspiration from is music that gets you into kind of a trance. Both musically and vocal wise. Artists like Björk, some of Enya's music, and especially Lisa Gerrard," she said.

Tickets for the concert are at €20 (general standing) and €50 (VIP standing). To book, log on to: www.ticketline.com.mt. For more information log on to www.standoutevents.com.mt or call: 27 450000/27 450077.
