Winners of scholarship to International Piano Festival announced

The scholarship offers the opportunity for recipients to participate in the second International Piano Festival in Italy to be held in San Giovanni Teatino between 9 and 19 August 2015

14-year old Myra Cassar and 11-year old Lizzie Ann Faure are the winners of the Advanced Category and Intermediate Category respectively, of the scholarship grants for young maltese pianists awarded by The European Foundation for the Support of Culture and the Malta International Music Festival. 

Alexey Kononenko sponsored the scholarship, which offers the opportunity for recipients to participate in the second International Piano Festival in Italy to be held in San Giovanni Teatino between 9 and 19 August 2015.

The festival is organized by the Centro Culturale Russo-Italiano, European Foundation for Support of Culture and International Music School "Cenacolo della Musica – S. Irene" in collaboration with the Music School "Città di San Giovanni Teatino". 

Auditions were held on 8 July 2015 at the Johann Strauss School of Music - Malta. Several candidates provided a competitive level and the board of judges had to select one candidate from each category.

The scholarship grants include flights, accommodation and active participation in the master-classes and events within the festival. The participants will have the opportunity to enhance their talent under the guidance of internationally renowned professors while having the opportunity to mingle with many young pianists from different countries who will be participating in the Festival.
