Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Youth Orchestra to accompany Il Volo in concert

The Orchestra has a total of 34 musicians, all of which form part of MPO and MYO.

Musicians from the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) and the Malta Youth Orchestra (MYO) will be accompanying Il Volo during their concert on Saturday, 29 August at MFCC open grounds in Ta’ Qali.

The Orchestra has a total of 34 musicians, all of which form part of MPO and MYO. The different instruments played by the Maltese musicians will be ten wind instruments, one percussion and 23 strings.

MPO chairman, Sigmund Mifsud revealed that around ten young musicians shall be given the opportunity to play alongside the MPO musicians after going through an audition and attending master classes in preparation to this concert.

Fabrizio Crimi, chairman of Crimi Events organisers of Il Volo Concert in Malta expressed his satisfaction at including local talent within the Italian Concert.

Crimi is not a new visitor to Malta. He has been living on the island for the past seven years and openly says that Malta feels like home. He said that according to figures given to him by his ticketing company, Il Volo Concert is attracting a vast audience of different age groups.

Crimi emphasised that people with special needs can attend the concert free of charge but booking must be made directly with MFCC. Il Volo in Concert – Malta 2015 is a collaboration between Crimi Events and the Italian based Management of Giuseppe Rapisarda whose presence in this sector goes back 20 years covering successful concerts by renowned talent including Eros Ramazzotti, Elton John, Lisa Minelli, Jovanotti, Laura Pausini and a long list of acclaimed artists.

Il Volo are three young Italian tenors who wowed the world since their appearance on the popular Italian musical variety show, Ti lascio Una Canzone, in 2009.

They were discovered by renowned manager Michele Torpedine who discovered Andrea Bocelli amongst other artists. Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble bring to their audiences the best live performances of pop and traditional songs backed by symphony orchestras. Their American tour in 2014 was a huge success. They performed with world renowned Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion and Josh Groban.
