InterContinental Malta welcomes new area general manager

South African national Martin van Kan is the new area general manager at InterContinental Malta.

Martin van Kan, has recently been appointed as area general manager Malta based at InterContinental Malta. Van Kan, a South African national, has been operating in the tourism industry for over 30 years.

He is a graduate of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, Switzerland and has worked within InterContinental Hotels Group since 1985. The hotels he has managed include the InterContinental Phoenicia, Beirut and the InterContinental Al Bustan Palace, Oman. His more recent appointments include the InterContinental Shenzen and until recently the Fairmont the Palm, Dubai.

Here in Malta the challenge will be very different. InterContinental Malta, opened in 2003 has now established itself both locally and internationally as a hotel of the highest quality, delivering exceptional standard of service. Van Kan’s primary objective is to, together with his team, position the InterContinental Malta as the principle hotel and resort on the islands and to solidify its position within the conference market.
