Sports event raises €15,000 in aid of l-Istrina

Eurosport’s Football Nursery Fun Event saw a total of 300 young and promising footballers from 16 nurseries come together to raise €15,000 in aid of this year’s L-Istrina.

Some €1,500 were raised from the end, which was topped up by €10,000 from Eurosport and additional donations from employees and other partners.

Apart from football friendly matches, basketball/volleyball sessions, athletics, martial arts and Zumba for Kids courtesy of Wi Zumba were also organised during this year’s event. 

“We are extremely proud to having been given the chance to organise yet another successful sporting event.  In a country constantly battling against obesity and inactive lifestyle, such events are very encouraging to us, whilst continuously underlining the generosity of the Maltese population,” said Christina Peresso, Managing Director at Eurosport. 

The sixteen nurseries who took part were Attard, Birkirkara, Floriana, Ħamrun Spartans, Lija/Iklin, Marsaskala, Melita, Mosta Mqabba, Qormi, Qrendi, Rabat Ajax, Sock Kids, Valletta, Żebbuġ and Żurrieq.

All participants were awarded with a certificate, signed by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and a special medal was also awarded to commemorate the occasion.
