False e-mail requesting validation of secure key in circulation

BOV warns customers about fraudulent e-mail requesting validation of BOV SecureKey

Bank of Valletta  would like to warn customers that an e-mail is being circulated asking customers to synchronize their BOV SecureKey device by clicking on a link.

Although such e-mails may look authentic, Bank of Valletta is reminding its customers that they are to ignore all email notices claimed to have been sent by the Bank requesting personal bank-related information such as the PIN of their BOV debit or credit cards, and account numbers, Internet Banking User ID or passcode generated by the BOV Securekey.

The Bank said that it does not and would not request such information from customers via email, telephone or any other means of communication.

The Bank said that it has robust security systems in place and, through the BOV Securekey, provides customers with a secure two-factor authentication mechanism when using its 24x7 services including internet banking.

This, however, does not mean that customers should be complacent to such threats and it is essential that information security practices are adhered to at all times.

Customers are encouraged to contact the BOV Customer Service Centre (21312020), for more information.
