0.7% increase in provisional seasonally adjusted services turnover

NSO statistics show working-day adjusted turnover in selected services activities increased by 3.6% in the fourth qaureter last year as compared to the same period in 2013

According to NSO statistics in the fourth quarter last year, working-day adjusted turnover in selected services activities increased by 3.6% over the corresponding period of 2013. Provisional seasonally adjusted services turnover increased by 0.7%.

Statistics show that when compared to the fourth quarter of 2013, working-day adjusted turnover went up by 3.6%, with turnover increasing in real estate activities (26.9%), accommodation and food service activities (12.5%), wholesale trade (7.6%), motor trade (6.1%), retail trade (5.1%) and transportation and storage (2.4%).

According to the NSO decreases were registered in administrative and support services activities (14.5%), information and communication (13.1%) and professional, scientific and technical activities (0.4%).

Statistics revealed that employment, gross wages and salaries, and hours worked increased by 1.2%, 3.8% and 3.4% respectively over the same quarter of 2013.

The NSO said that seasonally adjusted turnover in the fourth quarter of 2014 increased by 0.7% over the previous quarter with increases registered in transportation and storage (6.3%), accommodation and food service activities (3.7%), information and communication (2.1%), retail trade (2.1%) and motor trade (1.5%). Declines were registered in administrative and support services activities (6.4%), real estate activities (5.6%), professional, scientific and technical activities (1.5%) and wholesale trade (0.6%).

Statistics showed that seasonally adjusted employment, gross wages and salaries and hours worked increased by 1%, 0.9% and 1.6% respectively over the previous quarter.
