National debt down by €107 million

Debt down by 40% in first six months of the year

The national debt is down by €107 million in the first two quarters of 2015, government said today, adding that government’s revenue increased by €193 million (14%) in the same period.

In the same six-month period the country also benefitted from €56 million in additional EU funds.

“While the opposition claims that government’s expenditure is spiraling out of control, official statistics confirm that the recurrent expenditure was down by 11% when compared to the previous legislature,” the statements said.

Government also noted an increase of €50 million in capital expenditure when compared to the last year of the previous PN government.
