Non-financial corporations sector generates 60.4% of gross value added of economy

During 2014, the non-financial corporations sector continued to be a key player in the economy, generating 60.4 per cent of the Gross Value Added of the total economy.

According to statistics published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), last year, the non-financial corporations sector increased marginally to 60.4%, from a share of 60.2%in 2013, while the financial corporations sector’s share edged down to 7.4%, a decline of 0.4 percentage points.

Figures show that the non-financial corporations generated 55.2% of the compensation paid to employees engaged in the domestic economy during 2014.

Statistics show that this was followed by the general government sector, which accounted for 29.6% of the total compensation of employees and the share of total remuneration generated by the five institutional sectors was essentially in line with that recorded for the previous year
