International Hotel Investments has partially acquired the luxury Astoria hotel in Brussels, with plans of converting it into “one of the best hotels” in the Belgian capital.

NLI Holdings Limited, the company owning the Corinthia Hotel in London in which IHI is a 50% shareholder, announced the acquisition of the hotel on Rue Royale this morning.

It said that it will now convert the hotel into the ‘Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria’ – a luxury hotel with 121 bedrooms and suits, as well as extensive dining, banqueting and spa facilities.

“We have earned an unparalleled reputation for restoring buildings of historical value and turning them into luxury hotels, and the Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria will be no exception” Corinthia chairman Alfred Pisani said. “We aim to make this hotel the best in Brussels – committing the same passion and attention to detail as we have done with our hotel redevelopments in London, Budapest, St Petersburg and other major cities. We have full confidence in the city and are proud to have acquired such a gem in Europe.”
