953 tonnes of paper saved through Yellow recycling programme

Yellow recycling programme is back for 17th consecutive year

The Yellow recycling programme is back once again for the 17th consecutive year. Every autumn since 1999, Yellow previously known as Yellow Pages, recycles old copies of the printed book and distributes the new directory.

Yellow, collects a grand number of 63,000 copies on average - these old directories are then shipped abroad for recycling. To date, the number of copies collected amount to 635,580 copies which compares to 953 tons of paper saved from Malta and Gozo.

This year, Yellow is going a step further. For every old directory collected for recycling purposes, €0.10 will be donated to Dar tal-Providenza.

Yellow has been consistently recognized by Malta’s Cleaner Technology Centre, for its efforts and accomplishments, and has been awarded an Honorable Mention in the Environment Award for Industry in 2007 and 2009 together with a Conservation Award for Sustainable Development in 2011.

None of this progress would have been possible without the support of the Maltese and Gozitan public. With the joint effort of the brand and the public, Yellow aims to make the islands a cleaner place to live in by encouraging the recycling of the old directories. During the upcoming weeks, Yellow will be informing the public of the delivery of the new directory through the use of flyers. Both the directories and the flyers are printed on FSC paper which is derived from 100% managed forests.

"If you wish to support this initiative, you may leave your old directories on your doorstep and the company representatives will proceed with the collection on the date stipulated on the flyer. You can also find the dates of collection in your area at distribution.yellow.com.mt. Should any copies be missed during collection, feel free to call on freephone 800 722 37 or contact online via our Facebook page facebook.com/yellowmalta.

"Together, we can make Malta and Gozo a better place to live in whilst contributing to a noble cause. We thank everyone in advance for their cooperation."

Yellow Pages (Malta) Ltd publishes over 180,000 Yellow, Discover Local print directories in Malta and Gozo together with an online directory found at www.yellow.com.mt and smart phone apps available for iOS and Android devices.
