Technology Contributes to Better Workspaces and better Productivity

We often fail to understand the profound effect that light has on us. Just think about how you felt on the last rainy day. Compare that with how you feel on a day like this, a bright, sunny morning. The difference is considerable.

Having a bright working environment not only improves our mood, but it also improves our productivity and job satisfaction. But getting the right amount of light (as too much can be just as uncomfortable as too little) as well as being smart about it (because energy costs are not cheap) is important for a better functioning company.

The Waldman Group, a Dex partner, have come up with some creative solutions. Their lights feature sensor systems that measure the ambient light and automatically adjust lighting levels to an optimum amount. In addition, the lights can also be set at a specific brightness and maintain that constant automatically throughout the day.

That makes for a more pleasant environment, and prevents employees from becoming mentally and physically tired because of too much, or too little, light.

While we humans tend to be visual creatures, we often  ignore the importance of sound and acoustics in our work areas. Our ceilings at Dex Workspaces, actually play a pivotal role in this as it acts as a giant reflective barrier, bouncing sound throughout the workspace. It also acts as a sound buffer from the floors above, preventing us from having to listen to every footstep, or chair scrape.

False ceilings also have a considerable effect on room acoustics and can result in a room developing a constant murmur of noise that forces people to raise their voices to be heard. Of course, raised voices only make matters worse.

Rockfon, another Dex partner, offers specific acoustic ceiling tiles made of Rock Wool (a naturally fire retardant material) that can address these problems and create the right environment. Rockfon also offer their ceiling solutions in a variety of finishes.
