Melita sets minimum entry level internet speed at 50Mbps

The new packages are designed for different usage pattenrs

25 July 2016, 12:49pm
Service provider Melita has launched internet packages starting at a minimum entry level speed of 50Mbps. It is the only internet service provider in Malta to offer superfast speeds, starting from 50Mbps, anywhere in Malta and Gozo, the company said.

The new packages are designed for different usage patterns within the household and cater for all types of users including the heavy streaming and surfing consumers.

The Melita Fibre Power product suite includes Fibre Power 50Mbps Surfer, Fibre Power 50Mbps Streamer, Fibre Power 100Mbps Racer and Fibre Power 250Mbps Pro. Higher speeds are available on demand.

Melita has also launched an online tool to help subscribers or new customers determine the internet speed required within their household, according to their usage patterns. The online tool available at www.melita.com/internet asks three simple questions and the answers will determine the most ideal internet package for that household.

“The new packages reflect the need for more bandwidth as a result of the new reality we live in today. More people are opting to spend more time doing things online. Consumer usage patterns continue to demand more bandwidth and faster broadband speeds. Streaming applications like Spotify or Netflix, TV or movie downloads, Facebook, YouTube and other social media channels, online shopping, instant messaging and online banking are only a few examples of the online activity carried out on devices or computers, adding to the demand for bandwidth. Melita Fibre Power packages provide superfast, reliable and affordable internet with the necessary peace of mind that the need for speed is consistently satisfied,” said Mireille Muscat, Head of Marketing at Melita.
