A Hawker Beechcraft King Air, the plane used by PN leader Lawrence Gonzi to reach a political meeting in Sicily.
Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi made use of a Malta Armed Forces airplane in his capacity as Nationalist Party leader.]. The plane is exclusively used by the AFM in its search and rescue missions. Gonzi made use of the plane in May to reach a meeting of the European People's Party held in Palermo, Sicily.
This information was confirmed by the Office of the Prime Minister. The plane used was a Hawker Beechcraft King Air, which was acquired only a month earlier for €9.6 million, as part of the EU programmed External Borders.
On 5 April, at the presentation ceremony for the airplane, the AFM chief Martin Xuereb said that the arrival of plane coincides with the delicate times in regards to migration in the Mediterranean.
