The Electoral Commission notifies those persons who applied to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners during the forthcoming Local Councils' elections, those selected are currently being notified by ordinary post. Selected persons have until Wednesday 22nd February, 2012, to submit their acceptance letter to the Electoral Commission at its office in Evans Building, Valletta, or at the Identity Cards Office, St Francis Square, Rabat, Gozo, between 3pm and 7pm

Closing of the Identity Cards Office

The Electoral Commission notifies that, owing to work in connection with the Local Councils Elections, the Identity Cards Office in Valletta shall be CLOSED on Saturday 18th February, 2012. The office shall re-open on Monday, 20th February, 2012, from 7.30am to 2pm.

Revision of the General Election Electoral Register

The Chief Electoral Commissioner notifies that the closing date for the publication of the forthcoming revision of the General Election Electoral Register is due in April is 31st March, 2012. All Maltese nationals aged 18 or over whose name does not appear in the Electoral Register published in October, 2011, and who have not since applied for registration as voters, should do so provided they have the necessary qualifications. Application forms are obtainable from Police Stations, Local Councils' Offices and from the Electoral Office. They may also be downloaded from the website www.electoral.gov.mt. It is in the interest of voters to verify that their personal particulars as shown in the October 2011 Register are correct. They should also verify that the house number or name, the street name as well as the I.D. card number are shown correctly in the Register. Registered voters should notify the Electoral Office of any changes/corrections that are necessary. For the convenience of those who want to apply for registration as voters or for a change/correction of surname and/or address in the Electoral Register, the Electoral Office is open from Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 2pm, Wednesday, from 3pm to 6pm, and Saturday, from 7.30am to 10.30am. The same facilities are given at the Identity Card Office, 28A, St. Francis Square, Rabat, Gozo. All applications may be delivered at the Office of the Electoral Commission, Evans Building, Merchants Street, Valletta, OR to any Police Officer in any Police Station in Malta and Gozo, or forwarded to the Chief Electoral Commissioner by post, by not later than 31st March, 2012.

Delivery of Voting Documents

The Electoral Commission notifies that Police Officers have today started delivering the voting documents pertaining to the Local Councils' Elections due on Saturday, 10th March, 2012. Delivery is carried out at the voter's registered address as shown in the last publication of the electoral register, namely, that of October, 2011. This delivery to households shall continue daily until Friday 17th February including on the 10th February and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 8pm. It is necessary that at the place of residence there shall be either the person to whom the voting document is addressed, or an adult person, who either resides at the same address or is in the voter's employment, to receive the voting documents and sign for their receipt. The voting document should be kept in a safe place as nobody will be allowed to vote without it.

The Electoral Commission notifies that it will receive applications for Assistant Electoral Commissioners for the forthcoming Local Councils Elections. Applications will be accepted only from voters registered (in the October, 2011, Register) in the localities of Birgu, Isla, Qormi, Zebbug, Siggiewi, Attard, Balzan, Birzebbuga, Dingli, Floriana, Gzira, Għajnsielem, Gharghur, Hamrun, Iklin, Kercem, Kirkop, Luqa, Marsa, Marsaxlokk, Mosta, Munxar, Nadur, Paola,Qala, Safi, San Giljan, San Lawrenz, San Pawl il-Bahar, Santa Lucija, Swieqi, Xaghra, Zebbug (Gozo) and Zurrieq. Applications will be received by the Electoral Commission at its Office, Evans Building, St Elmo Square, Valletta, and for persons residing in Gozo at the Identity Cards Office, 28A St Francis Square, Rabat, Gozo, from Monday 30th January up to Wednesday 1st February, 2012, from 3pm to 7pm. Application forms, the only ones admissible, may be obtained from the same offices on the above mentioned dates and times.
