Refuse dumped at Majjistral Park

Park management has appealed to the public for any information on the perpetrators

Heaps of rubbish have been discovered in the ecologically sensitive Natura 2000 area of il-Majjistral Nature and History Park, and the management is appealing to the public for any information on the perpetrator.

The waste, which includes bulky items like computers, mattresses and iron poles, was discovered during the regular patrols of the park. It appears the items were dumped from the garigue onto the cliffs, an area that is difficult to reach.

“Due to the nature of the area it is very difficult to clean the place, and the management will seek best options how to clear the area from the rubbish dumped. The person or persons involved must have made use of a vehicle to carry the material to the cliff edge,” the management said in a press statement.

“Il-Majjistral Nature and History Park condemns such acts of vandalism and is calling for public help in trying to catch the perpetrator. Anyone who knows something about the matter can contact the Park on 21521291 or email [email protected], even by remaining anonymous. All information received will remain confidential.”
