As Gozo’s iconic Azure Window is slowly being eroded away, the government moved to set up no-entry signs and introduce a hefty fine of €1,500 for those who ignore the warnings.

The iconic landmark was officially established as a no-go zone through an emergency order, which should soon be replaced by permanent legislation.

As much as 90% of the outer layer is estimated to have eroded over the past 30 years.

But as photos attest, people continue to ignore the warning signs.
