Police officers, members of the Administrative Law Enforcement, Civil Protection Department employees and officers from the Animal Welfare Directorate were deployed last night to capture three peacocks that escaped from San Anton Palace, the residence of the President.

The escape was reported to the Police on Easter Sunday at around 7.30pm when residents found peacocks on their property.

A tower ladder was brought in by CPD officials in order to access one of the roofs the peacocks were reportedly on. Rescuers only managed to capture one peacock last night [photographed by MaltaToday’s Ray Attard] while the two others got away.

The search resumed this morning.
