Costa Coffee opens fifth store to celebrate first birthday

Costa Coffee Malta is celebrating its one year anniversary since opening it’s first outlet at the Departures Lounge at the Malta International Airport in June 2012.

This year has seen several new openings for the brand including a further two at the Malta International Airport, it's first retail outlet on the high-street at The Axis Complex in Paceville and its latest 5th outlet at The Point Shopping Complex in Tigne, Sliema.

Costa Coffee has slowly built it's consumer base through the launch of several different campaigns centered around different coffees and blends ranging from the Classic Corto to the Flat White and most recently the Summer 2013 Campaign featuring freshly brewed Iced Teas and Coolers.

Dr. Robert Buttigieg, General Manager of Costa Coffee in Malta, said " We're very pleased to see that Costa Coffee has been received so well by the Maltese public since it opened it's doors back in June 2012. We look forward to opening further outlets around the island in the coming years

Costa was founded by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa in London in 1971. Their small family business was bought by Whitbread, an established English company, in 1995 and has since grown to over 2000 stores in 28 countries, but still remains true to its Italian heritage. The company has built its reputation on the excellence of its coffee and the quality of the food and service it provides - values also embodied in the Maltese outlets.

Responsible coffee

Other than being devoted to providing the world with premium coffee, Costa Coffee set up The Costa Foundation in 2006 to give something back to coffee growing communities by providing children with access to education. It recognises that its coffee farmers are an integral part of their success. The Foundation's focus on education is in direct response to requests from coffee growing communities who believe that educating their children is the best long-term solution to poverty.

Costa Coffee has set a five-year target that will continue to make a major difference to coffee- growing communities. By 2017, The Costa Foundation is pledging to build 50 schools, providing access to education for 50,000 children.
