Air Malta flight to London delayed indefinitely due to closing down of London airspaces

London airspaces have been closed until 7pm GMT (8pm CET) due to a computer failure, air traffic controllers said.

UK air traffic controllers Nats confirmed a “technical problem” at its control base in Hampshire and said that “every possible action” is being taken to resolve it.

The news was announced on flight safety body Eurocontrol’s website.

“There has been a failure of the flight data computer server at London Area Control Centre,” Eurocontrol said. “Engineers are working on the problem and more information will be given when available.”

London’s Heathrow Airport  have confirmed that its flights are “experiencing delays”.

Flight KM102 from Malta to Heathrow has been delayed indefinitely and an Air Malta spokesperson confirmed that they are keeping close contact with authorities in London to monitor the situation. No Air Malta flights from London to Malta have been cancelled or delayed.
