18,000 to receive increased children’s allowance
Some 18,000 families will receive an increased children’s allowance of €350 for every child, as was announced in the last budget.
The total spend in 2012 will be of €41.8 million in children's allowance, an increase of €4.2 million over 2011.
The same budget also introduced a new tax band for parents that will generate savings of €150 to €840 in income tax for some 55,000 parents.
