Update 2 | Driver suffers grievous head injuries after trailer overturns in Marsa

A 43-year-old man from San Gwann is in critical condition after a trailer overturned in Garibaldi Street, Marsa.

The incident occurred this morning at about 11.30am when the man was driving a Leyland DAF.

Initial investigations suggest that the victim, Charles Borg, lost control of the vehicle, and his trailer got unhooked. The vehicle then crashed into a wall, and overturned.

Members of the Civil Protection Department extracted the man from the trailer, while an ambulance conveyed him to Mater Dei Hospital where his condition has been certified of suffering from grievous head injuries.

Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli has ordered an inquiry, and appointed Mario Buttigrg, Joe Zammit, and Mario Cassar as court experts.
