Serbian man jailed for forging passport stamp

Man gets seven-month custodial sentence suspended for 18 months for using falsely stamped document

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera handed a Serbian national a seven-month custodial sentence suspended for 18 months after he admitted to forging an immigration stamp on his Serbian passport, this afternoon.

Lawyer Arthur Azzopardi entered an early guilty plea for 22-year-old Krstic Nenad as he appeared in the dock, charged with forgery and use of a forged public document.

Principal Immigration Officer Inspector Frankie Sammut charged the man with having knowingly made use of the professionally made, falsely stamped document in order to prolong his stay in Malta, as he was not an EU national.
