Man conditionally discharged after smashing bus windscreen

The accused caused about €431 in damages, which he paid in court

A Marsa man was handed a two-year conditional discharge by Magistrate Antonio Vella this morning, after he pleaded guilty to smashing the windscreen of a bus.

Defence lawyer Maxilene Pace explained to the court that the accused, 70 year old Marsa resident Giorgio Magri, was crossing a road near his home when the bus in question nearly ran him over.

Magri, who then proceeded to smash the bus’ windscreen with his fist- causing damages amounting to €431- “understandably, had a massive fright” and reacted violently.

“I don’t smash windscreens when I’m frightened” quipped the Magistrate.

The accused apologised and paid for the damages in court.
