Conditional discharge for man who attacked ex-partner

22-year-old pleads guilty to injuring estranged partner

A Birzebbugia man was this morning conditionally discharged for two years after pleading guilty to injuring his estranged partner.

Wayne Borg, 22, appeared before Magistrate Antonio Vella today, charged with attacking with his ex-partner and mother of his two children Roxanna Schiavone, after an argument over access to his children.

Borg claimed that he had gone to pick them up during visiting hours but was denied entry. Borg then forced entry into Schiavone’s house who then ran to a friend's house for protection.

The accused followed Schiavone to the friend's residence, where another argument ensued. Borg, demanding to see his children, broke down the door.

The Police soon arrived and attempted to calm the situation, but Borg resisted arrest and assaulted two police officers.

Magistrate granted Borg the conditional discharge, but not before issuing a protection order for Schiavone and ordering Borg to pay €270 for the repair of the door.

Inspector Kevin Pulis led the prosecution.
