A 23-year-old Gozitan suffered light injuries after falling one storey with his car into a valley. At 7.15am, the young man was driving a Ford Ka in the vicinity of Santa Lucija, Gozo. According to the driver, he had lost control of his car after it had developed sudden mechanical problems and he therefore couldn’t stop it from dropping into the valley.
Mobile police, traffic police and civil protection units were called to the location. The man managed to get out of the crashed car without assistance and he was whisked off to the Gozo General Hospital where he was later certified as having suffered light injuries.
Informed people say that the driver only avoided serious injuries because he had been wearing his seatbelt and because the car had luckily passed through two trees.
