Bail for man accused of usury, living off earnings of prostitution

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

A 35-year-old Mosta resident was granted bail after he pleaded not guilty to charges of living off the earnings of prostitution, harassment and usury of a Syrian woman. He was also charged with relapsing.

Peter Borg, who is unemployed, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit ordered Borg not to approach Valletta and Marsa. He was also ordered not to approach the woman in question. The court issued a protection order in favour of the victim.

Lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Kris Busietta appeared for Borg. Inspector Yvonne Farrugia prosecuted.
