Policeman admits to burglary

Suspended sentence for police officer who pleaded guilty to robbing home of elderly couple

A 40 year old police officer from Mosta has been handed a suspended sentence after he admitted to burglary.

In a sitting held this afternoon before duty magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras, Alexander Mallia pleaded guilty to having stolen items from an elderly couple’s home in Mosta on the 24th of March this year.

The magistrate handed down a two year prison sentence, suspended for four and ordered Mallia to return the stolen objects.

Inspector Nicholas Vella prosecuted. Lawyer Joe Brincat defended the accused.
