Zebbug man who threatened wife and child with shotgun receives suspended sentence

Philip Tanti pleaded guilty to possession of unlicenced firearm and threatening his wife and daughter

A 64 year-old man from Zebbug was today handed two-year suspended sentence after he admitted to threatening his wife and daughter with a shotgun during an argument.

Philip Tanti was arraigned before Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona on charges of keeping an unlicensed firearm and threatening his wife and child.  Tanti pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court issued a protection order in favour of the woman and child and ordered that the weapon, a Benelli, be confiscated.

Inspector Kylie Borg prosecuted, while lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace appeared for Tanti.
