A man suffered a broken leg while walking in Selmun. A helicopter was called in to assist him.

According to initial information, the person slipped while walking in Selmun.

As the area is inaccessible by ambulance, a helicopter was called in to take the man to Mater Dei Hosptial.

In a statement, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) said they were called to assist the injured man that sustained injuries after falling in the limits of Selmun.

Civil Protection officers were on site to render assistance but due to lack of accessibility, the AFM immediately dispatched an Alouette III helicopter that, within minutes, located the injured man. Subsequently, AFM rescuers successfully winched the patient aboard the helicopter and transferred him to St. Luke’s helipad. An awaiting ambulance took the patient to Mater Dei hospital for further treatment.
