Suspended sentence for Bosnian caught with forged passport

The 21-year-old was discovered to have forged immigration stamps on his passport

A court has handed down a suspended sentence to an unemployed young man who was found to have forged immigration stamps on his passport.

Stjepanovic Dimitrije, 21, from Bosnia, living in Mellieha, was arraigned before Magistrate Ian Farrugia by inspector Frankie Sammut, charged with being in possession of a passport containing falsified information, knowingly making use of a falsified document and falsifying immigration documents.

Dimitrije pleaded guilty to the charges.

The magistrate imposed a six-month jail term, suspended for two years, carefully explaining the import of this sentence to the accused.

Lawyer Christopher Chircop was legal counsel to Dimitrije.
