Five passengers, three-month old baby injured in traffic accident

Six persons were hospitalised last night following a traffic accident in Triq il-Kbira, Mellieha.

The incident happened between a Seat Ibiza, driven by a 24-year-old from Naxxar and a Suzuki Gran Vitara, driven by a 42-year-old woman from Qormi.

Drivers and respective passengers were transferred to Mater Dei Hospital.

The 24-year-old driver and his passenger – a man aged 24 of Mosta – were certified to be suffering from slight injuries. The woman and a three-month old boy suffered slight injuries while a 15-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy suffered grievous injuries.

Due to the incident, the road was closed until it was cleared. Both cars were extensively damaged.

Police investigations underway.
