Drunk driver awaiting sentence for three-car accident

21-year-old Teodor Hristov, from Bulgaria, was arrested yesterday in St. Paul’s Bay after he hit a parked Renault Megane and a Toyota Vitz with his uninsured Audi A4

A drunk driver who crashed into two parked cars has today been released on bail pending sentencing, after he admitted to charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence.

Inspectors Nicholas Vella and Mark Mercieca told Magistrate Audrey Demicoli that 21-year-old Teodor Hristov, from Bulgaria, had been arrested yesterday in St. Paul’s Bay at around 11:30am after he hit a parked Renault Megane and a Toyota Vitz with his uninsured Audi A4, causing €3,000 worth of damage to the stationary vehicles.

Hristov was found to not have a valid driving licence in his possession.

Upon his arrest, officers also found the accused to be over the drink-driving limit.

The Bulgarian’s lawyer Caroline Farrugia entered a guilty plea. The court released the accused on bail, ordering him to sign a bail book daily, observe a curfew and provide a personal guarantee of €3,000.
