Libyan, arrested on Floriana roof, remanded in custody

26-year-old Khaled Eddali was charged with attempting to break into a residence and relapsing

A Libyan refugee, who was caught on the roof of a private residence in Floriana on Monday night, has pleaded not guilty to attempted theft.

Inspector Jeffrey Scicluna arraigned 26-year-old Khaled Eddali before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli this morning, charging him with attempting to break into a residence. He was also accused of relapsing.

Lawyer Patrick Valentino, appointed legal aid for the accused, entered a not guilty plea but did not request bail as the man did not have a fixed address in Malta.

The court ordered the man be remanded in custody.
