Pastizzi craving costs man €250

Francis Cassar was caught outdoors outside of his curfew, at a popular Rabat pastizzeria

An urge for pastizzi  has cost a man €250, after he was spotted at a popular Rabat pastizzeria  in breach of his bail conditions.

Inspector Jonathan Ferris arraigned the man, Francis Cassar, before Magistrate Joseph Mifsud this morning, charging him with breaching his curfew.

Cassar, who had been on bail for an unspecified offence, had been obliged to remain indoors between 11pm and 7am, and is understood to have been caught by police acting on an anonymous report .

The accused pleaded guilty, admitting that he had breached his bail conditions but insisted that he had just nipped out to satisfy his pastizzi cravings.

The court fined Cassar €250 and warned him that such behaviour would not be tolerated in future.
