Gzira man denies fraud, misappropriation and trading in influence

The 26-year-old faced charges of stealing a video game console, misappropriating a mobile phone and trading in influence

A 26-year-old from Gzira has been remanded in custody after he was arraigned on charges of fraud, theft, misappropriation and trading in influence.

Thomas Camilleri, who is unemployed, pleaded not guilty to defrauding three men out of a total of €1,000, stealing a Playstation video game console, misappropriating a Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone and trading in influence between July and late September this year. The circumstances surrounding the latter charge did not emerge in court.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera granted Camilleri bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €5,000, also placing him under a curfew.

Inspector Jonathan Ransley prosecuted whilst lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri were defence counsel.
